First Green Mile Bulbs Planted for the Tulip Ribbon on Stadhouderskade

The planting of the first The Green Mile tulips marks the beginning of planting approximately 30,000 flower bulbs at various locations along The Green Mile. Starting from spring 2023, the street from the Rijksmuseum to the Hogeschool van Amsterdam will be beautifully adorned with various types of flowers and bulbs, including ornamental onions (Alliums), organic crocuses, daffodils, and the 'Green Mile' tulip. The spring bloomers were generously provided by the Royal General Bulb Growers' Association (KAVB), which aims to contribute to greater biodiversity in the heart of Amsterdam.

On November 3rd, Ruth van Dijken (director of the foundation) planted the first special green and yellow 'Green Mile' tulip together with Jaap Bond (chairman of KAVB) and Rocco Piers (vice-chairman of the executive board of the Amsterdam-Zuid district).

All the initiators, including Heineken (Jan-Willem Vosmeer, Lieke Westendorp), De Nederlandsche Bank (Maaike van Leuken), Rijksmuseum (Karen Keeman), UNStudio (Machteld Kors), Hogeschool van Amsterdam (Rob Andeweg), and Blendingbricks (Ruth van Dijken), along with employee Eva Schneider, were present on November 3rd."
