"Meeting for Residents to Get Acquainted with 'The Green Mile.' About a Livable, Green, and Sustainable Stadhouderskade for All Living Beings. Allow Us to Introduce Ourselves: Hello, we are the foundation 'The Green Mile!' Perhaps you have already heard about us, but maybe not. Nice to meet you! We are an initiative, a positive movement, and a foundation initiated by several businesses on Stadhouderskade. Our ambition is to transform the street into a pleasant place to be, with space for each other and for nature, rather than what it is now: a gray, noisy, polluted, and car-centered street.
Our Ambition? Together with organizations, businesses, the municipality, and residents on and around Stadhouderskade, we are joining forces to collectively transform Stadhouderskade into a 'Green Mile': a green, sustainable, social, inclusive, safe, and future-proof livable street for humans, plants, and animals. A space that becomes meaningful and invites people to walk, meet, exercise, experience nature, and much more.
When? On Wednesday evening, October 26, 2022, from 7:30 PM to 8:30 PM, we, as a newly established foundation, are organizing a neighborhood meeting at the Heineken Experience for the first time. A special location chosen deliberately. Why? We will be happy to explain on the 26th.
We would very much like to meet you, hear what's going on, how you envision the future of Stadhouderskade, and what (green) ideas and initiatives are alive. Perhaps you have ideas for a collective application for facade gardens, greening rooftops, greening facades, or making your garden climate-proof. Or ideas for meeting each other, engaging in sports, stimulating biodiversity, etc. We are curious! We would also like to introduce ourselves to you and get to know you, to see together what is possible.
The Municipality and The Green Mile: Of course, The Green Mile is not possible without a good connection with the Municipality of Amsterdam, as they are responsible for the layout of public spaces. Various projects will be undertaken in and around Stadhouderskade in the coming years. The Green Mile collaborates and consults with the municipality, suggests feasible green and other beautiful interventions, and thus collectively fulfills our ambition. The municipality will also be present at this meeting.
